ST MARY’S Church in Burford is getting ready for its village fete in the grounds of Burford House Garden.

There will be a chance to splat rats, hook ducks, and knock down skittles at its village fete within the glorious setting of the gardens that house one of the finest collections of clematis in the country.

The church and the garden store have joined forces to create a good old fashioned village fete, with lots of side shows, strawberry teas and tours around the clematis led by the Burford Garden Angels volunteers.

“We want to create an afternoon of good old fashioned fun with our fete this year so there will be lots of games to have a go at, as well as a dog show to enter, a falconry display to watch and strawberries and ice cream to eat,” said the Rev Sian Harris, vicar of St Mary’s.

There will also be trade stalls and an exhibition of art in the church.

The fete will take place on Sunday, July 19, between 2pm and 5pm. Entry is free.
