CHARITY swimmers in Tenbury have made a splash for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The swimmers that took to the water at Tenbury Swimming Pool were taking part in the UK’s biggest charity swim and they raised more than £386 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Each year across the UK around 23,000 people take part in Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Swimathon at pools around the country. Over the past 28 years, the event has raised more than £40million for the charity.
Four local swimmers joined this year’s event at Tenbury Pool, which is operated by Freedom Leisure in partnership with Tenbury Community Pool Ltd.
The charity swimmers swam 1.5k, 2.5k or 5k distances, individually or as part of team.
“I would like to thank and congratulate all of the swimmers who took part in the Swimathon challenge,” said Rob Tyler, manager of the leisure centre.
“They raised a fantastic amount of money for such a worthy cause, and they should all be very proud of what they achieved.
“We look forward to hosting similar events in the future, and raising more money for worthy causes including our own charity the Tenbury Community Pool.”
