A SPECIAL event is being staged in Tenbury to mark the 70th anniversary of the ending of the Second World War.

In August the Royal British Legion in the town will mark the 70 years since the end of the war with Japan.

It will come just months after ceremonies throughout the country to make the anniversary of the end of the war in Europe.

Details of the event and the date are still being finalised but it will held at Kyrewood House in Tenbury.

Sue Perry, who heads the poppy collection in Tenbury and has just joined Tenbury Town Council, said that the event would be based upon a party at the Ritz and would raise funds for the Royal British Legion.
