AMONG the usual items on sale in the Spa shop in Tenbury there was an exercise bike on prominent display.

It was not a further diversification for the convenience store in Teme Street but was a way in which staff helped to raise more than £400 for the children’s charity the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

The NSPCC is the charity that Spa has chosen to support and every week the store in Tenbury raised about £100 thanks to donations from customers.

However, it was decided to give the fundraising an extra push with the 'cycle ride' and over three days the 15 staff at the store ‘pedalled’ the equivalent of 150 miles.

Local areas managers from the Spa have set themselves an even bigger challenge of ‘riding’ an exercise bike 500 miles which is the equivalent of a cycle ride from Edinburgh to Dover.

All the money they raise will also go to the NSPCC.
