TENBURY Hospital will be closing the doors overnight of its Minor Injury Unit (MIU) early next month.
Following a public consultation the opening times of the MIU, which is based at the town’s community hospital, will change from Monday, March 9.
Towards the end of 2014 residents were asked for their views on proposals to shut the unit overnight and change to opening hours of 9am until 9pm, seven days a week.
Health chiefs claim that there were no major objections to the plans, with respondents voting 3:2 in favour of the change. The changes were also supported by local GPs.
The Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust say on average around six patients per day use the M IU at Tenbury with almost nine out of 10 attendances occurring in the hours when the unit will remain open.
