A SUPERMARKET in Tenbury has made a major donation to the town’s swimming pool and leisure centre.

Bowketts has put nearly £3,000 into the coffers of the company that owns the community pool and leisure centre.

The cheque for £2,951 was handed over on the day that a newly equipped gym opened and a week after Freedom Leisure took over the running of the facility.

Bowketts made the donation as part of a scheme led by the retail group NISA that works with independent shops and has an initiative to raise funds for local good causes.

The supermarket in the town has raised more than £15,300 over a number of years but this is the biggest single donation.

Other local good causes to have benefitted over the years include Tenbury Amateur Boxing Club, Lindridge Pre-school, Tenbury Town Band, Tenbury Guiding Association, Tenbury Youth Cafe, Burford Pre-school, Tenbury Hospital League of Friends, Hereford and Worcester First Responders, the County Air Ambulance and Tenbury Wells Chamber of Trade.
