HOLLY Penwarden has the job of helping people in Tenbury take more exercise.

She has been appointed as community activity and rural development officer to help improve physical activity levels among all sectors of the local community.

Her work will begin by taking activities to rural areas through community buses. She will then establish new sporting groups and clubs, along with other opportunities designed to encourage more people to get active.

Freedom Leisure, which has taken over the operation of Tenbury Pool, has made the appointment.

Freedom Leisure is also investing £360,000 in the swimming pool to improve the standard of leisure facilities for the local community and make the site more environmentally friendly.

“Here at Freedom Leisure we believe that local leisure services have a responsibility to help all sectors of the community get active,” said Ms Penwarden.

“We’re passionate about improving the quality and accessibility of facilities and activities in the area and will work tirelessly to ensure targets are not only met but exceeded.”

Starting in February 2015, Freedom Leisure will operate Tenbury Swimming Pool in partnership with Tenbury Community Pool Limited until at least 2025.
