AN EXTENSIVE revamp of Tenbury’s town centre is fully underway.
Work began on the project, including relaying footpaths, resurfacing roads, setting up new waste bins, bollards and planters, began on Monday, January 12.
Worcestershire County Council and its contractor Ringway Infrastructure Services had previously decided to put back the work until after the festive period to ensure shops and businesses were able to trade as normal in what is usually the busiest time of the year.
The council’s ward member for Tenbury Cllr Ken Pollock said the work, due to be completed by the end of March, said time work was taking place had been specially arranged to minimise disruption.
"Our town is open and able to trade normally whilst this project takes place,” he said.
“I'd like to thank everyone who is backing our traders during this time and would encourage people to continue doing just that.
"One of the key aims during this scheme is to keep residents and traders informed throughout.
“Following such discussions, working periods have been altered to reduce any inconvenience as much as possible."
Work is taking place from midday until midnight Monday to Friday.
