A DAY care centre near Tenbury is under new management.

Kyrebrook Daycare Centre has recently undergone a transformation into a new, not-for-profit, social enterprise company.

This means it will be ready in time to deliver social care services to residents in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and south Shropshire.

Under new Government guidelines coming in from April next year people will be having their needs assessed and will, for the first time, be able to make decisions about how they spend their own allocated care budget.

These changes are the most significant reforms for care and community support to be introduced in the UK for more than 60 years.

Ruth Felce, the manager at Kyrebrook Daycare Centre, said: “This new system allows carers to use some of their budget to plan the best solution for everybody.

“Carers can organise respite day care that suits the individual circumstances of the whole family.

"The personal budget, by being allocated to both the carer and the cared for, gives this greater freedom and choice.”

The Kyrebrook Daycare Centre is currently open two days a week and can accommodate up to 12 people.
