A TRANSPORT group in Tenbury needs more volunteer drivers as it tries to meet a demand for bus services.

“It is evident that withdrawal of rural bus services is an important issue for many in our community,” said John Driver, chairman of the Tenbury Transport Trust.

“Recently, Tenbury Transport Trust started trialling two new routes – to Leominster and Kidderminster – as alternatives to the bus services withdrawn by Worcestershire County Council.

“These are in addition to the three routes we inaugurated in 2013, serving places such as Menith Wood, Clifton-on-Teme and Stoke Bliss.

“As a charity, all of our routes are non-profit making and operated by volunteers driving our Teme Hopper minibus or cars.

“We are now in the desperate situation of requiring more volunteer drivers, particularly for the minibus, to support us in maintaining these community services.”

Drivers need to hold a full driving licence but not a public service or heavy goods vehicle
