A TYPICAL British summer's day did not dampen the enthusiasm and support for the Tenbury Show.

It was a day of sunshine and showers for the show that combines serious agricultural business with family entertainment.

One of the most important of the agricultural elements in the show were Hereford Cattle and this time there was a local winner of the Hereford bull class in Charlie Jones from Church Stretton and his magnificent beast Koala.

Ben Jones, from Leysters, had even less distance to travel to be awarded reserve interbreed champion for one of his ewes.

Still on a farming theme, the Brimfield Vintage Club gave an exhibition of tractor pulling.

Ludlow Hunt Pony Club will be performing ‘Shrek the Musical’ at the National Pony Club Show and gave the production its first public outing at the Tenbury Show.

On a less serious note one happy four-year-old was Mollie Beamond from Tenbury who picked up a special rosette with her pet lamb.

There were many family attractions with the FMX motorcycle display team at the top of the bill.

Displays to entertain included the Ludlow Hunt Pony Club Musical Ride, the Trevor Hill Falconry Display, a parade by the Wyre Forest Beagles and the Ludlow and Clifton Foxhounds.

The always popular gun dogs showed what they can do and there was also a display of shire horses in working gear.

For the second year Young Farmers from all over the country converged upon the show to compete in their national tug of war competition.

A large section was given over to trade stands from which visitors were able to buy things as diverse as heavy agricultural equipment to gifts and craft items.

The rain resulted in some muddy conditions but this was nothing compared to those faced in previous years and did not spoil the enjoyment of visitors or exhibitors.
