HOW the years rolled away for a party of ‘veterans’ from Tenbury High School.

Former pupils from 50 years ago made a nostalgic return to the school of their youth.

There were 11 students from the ‘class of 63’ that made their way back.

For just a few hours they travelled back in time to tour a school which they found in some ways much changed but in others just the same.

The party that also included a former teacher from half a century ago had a look at all the new facilities and took part in a ‘question and answer’ session in the school library.

Former head boy Colin Bentley, who himself went into teaching and now lives in Devon, was alongside Maggie Mantle the head girl from 1963 who now lives in Cleobury Mortimer.

They met and exchanged notes with their modern day counter parts Jack Edwards and Samantha Jenner.

It was only a small group that returned to the school but a party of 47 gathered at The Fountain in St Michael’s the following evening for a reunion dinner.

This was made up of 29 from the class of 1964, 13 partners plus three teachers from half a century ago and two of their partners.
