A SCHEME to give a yuletide boost to Tenbury’s independent shops will leave someone with a hamper of the best food and drink from the town.

People who buy in Tenbury can collect credits and when they have 12 their name goes into a prize draw.

The scheme follows a similar model to that applied in the early part of the year to encourage people to stay loyal to the town.

But this time the winner gets a hamper made up of some of the very best local produce.

There is also a shopping crawl around town and the guide to what’s on in certain stores can be collected from The Regal.

“Independent retailer champion, Clare Rayner, highlights the fact that when you spend £1 in an independent outlet between 50p and 70 pence of this goes back into the local community as opposed to the 5p in £1 that is spent in a multiple,”

said Carole Clayton, who has been working on the project.

“This is a way of supporting Tenbury at the same time as doing your Christmas shopping in relaxed surroundings and receiving personal attention from your local retailer.”
