Green Festival: Plans in place.
ENVIRONMENTALLY friendly people are looking forward to Ludlow's 12th annual Green Festival set to run from August 21-25.
Plans are already in place for the event and keystone to it will be the Green Fair in Castle Square on August 24.
Chair of Ludlow 21 events committee, Roger Furniss, said: "After settling on the venue, date and finances, the organising committee are working hard to put together a challenging programme. It is planned to stage 21 events to reflect the name of the umbrella group, which supports environmental activities in the area."
Mr Furniss added: "We are hoping there will be 60 stalls at the Saturday fair. We also want to attract more than the 1,500 people who came along to last year's rain-hit festival. The key to success is the close working relationship we have established with the other groups in Ludlow."
Under the direction of committee member Colin Richards, the showpiece will be the creation of a building from recycled materials in Events Square'.
Ludlow Town Council remains a major partner in helping to bring visitors and local people into the town centre to receive advice on lowering their carbon footprint and learning how to build a sustainable community.
Partner organisations include the civic society, Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Ludlow Assembly Rooms, Caring for God's Acre, Greenfinch, South Shropshire District Council and other groups who are part of Ludlow 21,including Local to Ludlow and Fairtrade Ludlow.
The committee have secured sponsorship for various aspects of the programme from Acaster, South Shropshire Housing and Smart and Cook.
Anyone wishing to learn more about the event can call Roger Furniss on 01584-874205.
