Charity shop prices too high SIR – I took a stroll round a few charity shops in town.
St Richard’s Hospice, Scope, Age UK, Barnardos, Cancer Research and Oxfam to name but a few.
I have written in about this before but didn’t deter these money grabbers to check the prices!
St Richard’s Hospice, a pair of brown slip-on shoes, in desperate need of re-soling and heeling £20, a pair of brand new brogues, without a trace of dust on £15.
Some of the trousers and jeans shouldn’t even be on display all they are good for is cleaning rags.
On walking through the rails of clothes, like I do, there is a distinguishing musty smell, after all these are all used goods.
Ninety per cent of them donated from people now deceased.
The people who run these shops haven’t a clue when pricing up clothes and hardware. Quite often I have found faults in the items mentioned.
A blue shirt Scope that needed a good ironing two months ago, was still there.
When enquiring if they will reduce the price due to a fault, it is taking a risk of getting banned from the shop.
