A MAN has been charged with attempted rape after an alleged sexual assault in the Cattlemarket car park in Worcester.
Jeremy Anderson, aged 40, of Bransford Road, Worcester has been charged with sexual assault and attempted rape, in connection with an alleged attack on a woman in her 50s.
The incident is said to have happened when the woman walking under the Viaduct by the entrance of the Cattlemarket Car Park at the junction of Castle Street and Croft Road.
A man is believed to have approached the victim from behind at the junction of Castle Street and Croft Road, put his hands over her face and touched her inappropriately over her clothing at 5.30am on Tuesday.
Police released images taken from CCTV footage of a man they wanted to speak to in relation to the incident on Wednesday before making an arrest.
Following the attack, reassurance patrols were carried out in the area.
Anderson will appear at Worcester Magistrates Court tomorrow (Friday), and was arrested following a public appeal.
