CHRISTMAS came early in Matchborough last week with the area's annual community Christmas carol concert.

The concert, at Christ Church, featured entertainment by youngsters from Matchborough First School and Noah’s Ark Nursery.

Following this, the festivities are set to continue with the annual Christmas luncheon for the over 55s.

It will take place at the church on December 14.

Children from Ipsley Middle School and Arrow Vale High School will be preparing the room and serving the food - a home cooked turkey dinner and dessert.

Two of the very best choirs from Ipsley Middle School and Matchborough First School will then entertained the 85 guests.

Ward councillor Juliet Brunner said: “I’m delighted that Matchborough once again is leading the way on Yuletide festivities. We have such a wealth of talent in our communities it’s great that we can celebrate and start the Christmas season together.”
