A POP-up information shop to raise awareness of hate crime as part of National Hate Crime Awareness Week (14th – 21th October) is coming to Redditch.

The pop up shop, on October 18, in the Kingfisher Centre will include a special stall where people can get advice and information from professionals, pick up information leaflets and cards and pens.

Special ‘say no to hate crime’ wristbands will also be distributed.

As well as the information stall, residents will also get the opportunity to learn about hate crime interactively with street theatre provided by Zoe Haworth Theatre Company.

Councillor Joe Baker, Redditch Borough Council’s portfolio holder for Community Safety and Regulatory Services, said: “As many are aware society is changing and not always for the better.

"Circumstances recently over the last year have caused an increase in hate crime. We as partnerships across North Worcestershire, in co-ordination with the National Hate Crime Awareness Week, are setting out a stall and it includes a small theatrical display, to help residents see the seriousness of hate crime and to see how it affects others and those around us and in the community.”
