KIDDERMINSTER’S new civic leader has spoken of his honour at being appointed Mayor of his town.
UKIP town councillor Martin Stooke was installed as the Mayor of Kidderminster for the coming year, taking over from Councillor Nicky Gale.
He was invested with his chain and robes at Kidderminster Town Hall in front of almost 200 guests including previous Mayors and dignitaries.
The retired DJ and former member of the armed forces said he aims to promote Kidderminster during his term.
Councillor Stooke also announced his chosen charities for this year will be Guide Dogs, Alzheimer’s Society and Forest Dog Rescue.
The Kidderminster Town Councillor for Offmore and Comberton ward said: “It really is an honour to be appointed as Mayor of Kidderminster.
“I am looking forward to representing the fantastic residents and communities within our wonderful town.
“I am keen to showcase and promote all that the town has to offer.”
Councillor Stooke continues a long tradition for Kidderminster, as the first Mayor was elected in 1836.
