A KIDDERMINSTER supermarket has raised more than £14,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in just 12 months.

Staff and shoppers at Sainsburys raised an impressive £14,027 as part of the Sainsbury’s Charity of the Year scheme by hosting bucket collections, second hand book sales and a Night of Musical Fun, organised by staff.

Sarah Diston, regional fundraising manager for Macmillan, Worcestershire said: “We would like to thank the customers and colleagues at Sainsbury’s for all their support and generosity over the past year.

“I would also like to say thank you to our wonderful volunteer, Barrie Key. Barrie has given so much of his spare time to volunteer at Sainsbury’s on behalf of Macmillan. The money raised will make such a difference to people living with cancer.

“We rely on donations and we are extremely grateful to Sainsbury’s, their staff and customers for their generosity. What they have achieved in 12 months is amazing.”
