A NEW support group for blind and partially sighted people from Wyre Forest will be launched in Kidderminster next week.

Sight Concern Worcestershire is unveiling its new group on Monday (October 23) from 2-4pm at The Corn Exchange, Kidderminster Town Hall in Vicar Street. The group will then meet on the fourth Monday of each month.

Sandra O’Donnell, advice and support officer for Wyre Forest, said: “We’re offering a combination of regular advice, support and social activities.

“This will also be a great opportunity for people to find out more about the services that are available, and to chat to others in a similar situation.

“We’d like as many people as possible to come along to our launch event. Whether you have sight loss yourself, or you know someone who has, this is an opportunity not to be missed.”

Jenny Gage, chief officer at Sight Concern, added: “We’re continuing to expand the number of community services we offer across the county.

“Thanks to a grant from the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund, we’re now able to launch our new sight loss service in Kidderminster to complement the work of our popular Wyre Forest Branch that meets regularly at St Mary’s Church.”

There will be a subsidised charge of £4 per session with free refreshments. To book a place contact Sandra O’Donnell on 01905 723245/07954 730716 or by email to s.odonnell@sightconcern.co.uk.
