A MAN has died after a two car crash in Bewdley on Friday morning (October 13). 

Emergency services were called to the B4194, Dowles Road, in Bewdley, at around 6.45am on Friday morning to reports of a two vehicle collision.

The driver of one of the cars, a man in his 20s, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries, where he was sadly pronounced dead. 

The driver of the other car, a man in his 60s, was taken to Russells Hall Hospital, with injuries that are not throught to be life-threatening at this time. 

A number of road closures were in place up until the afternoon and motorists were asked to avoid the area.

West Mercia Police is now appealing for witnesses to the two car collision. 

A spokesman from West Mercia Police said: "Police fire and ambulance services attended the collision, which happened at around 6.45am and involved a red Ford Fiesta and a silver BMW.

"A man in his 20s who was driving the Fiesta was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries, where he was sadly pronounced deceased.

"The driver of the BMW, a man in his 60s, has been taken to Russells Hall Hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing at this time."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: "Crews arrived to find the driver of one of the cars, a man, in cardiac arrest.

"CPR was already in progress which ambulance staff continued and they also administered advanced life support.

"Although the man's heart was successfully restarted prior to being transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham, he remained in a critical condition.

"The driver of the second car, a man in his 60s, was treated for a minor arm injury and taken to Russells Hall Hospital."

Three ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor attended the scene. 

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the manner in which either vehicle was being driven in prior to the incident, is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident reference number 94S of October 13.
