A MAN suffered a bleed on the brain after being knocked unconscious near to an Evesham bar.

Alex Gretton, 29, cannot remember what happened near to Orto Lounge and The Outside Inn in the early hours of Sunday morning after waking up in hospital.

It is believed he was hit across the right side of his head before it smashed into a wall.

Mr Gretton was out celebrating with his football team after winning the league before the incident and his dad is appealing for information.

Andrew Gretton, his father, said: "We are appealing for information about what happened, he cannot remember how he got his injuries.

"The police asked him about it but he did not know anything.

"We are hoping that there might be CCTV at the venue to tell us what happened.

"Somebody called the ambulance service after he was knocked unconscious.

"It is very troubling that something like this has happened."

As well as a bleed on the brain, Mr Gretton also suffered two other head injuries.

Eyewitness believe he may have knocked the sunglasses off a man, breaking the lens, before he demanded £125 for repair work from Mr Gretton.

He was taken to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch before being released. He is still under supervision with it hoped that his bleed on the brain will clear within the next couple of weeks.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said they were called to reports of a man being unconscious at 12.30am. He became conscious whilst the ambulance service were there and he was treated for head injuries.

The Orto Lounge said that they were unaware of the incident and that they believed it was nothing to do with them.

Anyone with information, contact police on 101 quoting incident number 27S of May 20. West Mercia Police were unavailable for comment. It is believed no arrests have been made.
