A MULTI award-winning mobile fish and chip van operating in the Evesham area and surrounding villages has received an extra helping of accolades by scooping top spot in one of the categories for national outdoor events.

Starchip Enterprise run from the Green Gables Business Centre, Kings Road, Evesham, by Jeffrey Warren has been selected by the National Outdoor Events Association (NOEA) as its Caterer of the Year.

The mobile operator serves up its prime fish and chips at about 60 large events across the country each year as well as doing its regular rounds in Evesham and the surrounding areas.

Jeffrey said: “This is a very prestigious award. We were nominated by one of the association’s panel and now we’ve won the Caterer of the Year Award.

“This year we have done the Game Fair, The British Summertime Festival at Hyde Park which attracts half a million people, Carfest North near Manchester and other big events. We have even had requests to go to events in Scotland.”

He said despite attending these large outdoor events, they always make sure they get back to the Vale of Evesham to do their regular rounds of the villages. “We make sure we get back to serve the customers who have been our bread and butter for years.

“I set up Starchip Enterprise as a community service and our customers love it. We have some staff who take the food to people at home because they are too old to come out.

“I am over the moon about the award. We worked hard to get it. They do not come easily and they are very stringent with the judging. It get a win like this is fantastic. It is a large prestigious award.”

The Starchip Enterprise was last year named in the top 10 outlets selling top quality food at festivals and has previously won the Best Mobile Fish and Chip Operator Award in the National Fish & Chip Awards.

Jeffery added: “The National Fish and Chip awards are like the Oscars of our catering industry. Our level of service and experience in what we do has a lot to do with our success.

“I think people appreciate the effort we put into getting to them. We go out in rain, sunshine and snow and we take the best quality fish to them. We know where our food comes from and we cook it well.”

He believes one of the main reasons why the business has been recognised at festivals and other outside events is because it serves the same premium products as it does to all its other customers.

“You can get so many different grades of fish but we maintain the same standards for all our customers and events. We offer consistency.”

A judge for NOEA said starchip enterprise is “continually trying to improve their product and had to work very hard to stand out doing fish and chips. They were dedicated to a lot of great events.”
