THE Met Office has issued a yellow warning for ice as temperatures are set to plummet in the county this afternoon. 

Today there is no further snow forecast, and the sun will be out - but temperatures will remain at 0C. 

At around 4pm, temperatures are expected to drop below freezing and by 9pm will reach -7C. The lowest temperature is expected to be at -8C in the early hours.

The Met Office warning states: "Ice is expected to form across many places.

"Some injuries are likely from slips and falls on icy surfaces as well as icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. 

"As well as this lying snow from Sunday will continue to be a hazard leading to longer and potentially hazardous journeys."

The temperature drop will bring with it freezing fog. 

Temperatures will remain low tomorrow morning - at 8am it is expected to be -6C.
