LIBRARIES in Blackheath and Oldbury are serving up a feast of activities for anyone who may need cheering up on what is known as the most ‘miserable day of the year’.
Blue Monday, traditionally the third Monday in January, was originally identified in 2005 by academic Cliff Arnall.
To help lift the spirits of residents and banish the gloom, the libraries are getting ready to host a programme of events on Monday, January 15.
Rounds Green Library, Martley Rd, Oldbury, will be holding laughter yoga sessions, while Blackheath Library, in High Street, will be transformed with a musical variety show.
As well as the special events, libraries across the borough will also be hosting regular feel-good events such as knit and natter, cant and colour art therapy sessions, art groups, coffee mornings and reading groups.
There are also collections of mood boosting books on a range of health and wellbeing issues.
