A PENSNETT road will be closed to traffic next week.
Swan Street will be closed at its junction with High Street from Monday (October 23) to Friday (October 27), to allow BT to carry out essential works as part of the £6.3 million Pensnett road improvement scheme.
The works will be carried out in the mouth of the junction only, so access will still be available via Broad Street.
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environmental services, said: “We ask motorists to bear with us while the work is carried out. It is due to be completed within a week.”
The road improvement scheme will see two new sets of traffic lights put up on High Street at the junctions of High Oak and Tansey Green Road to ease congestion and make it safer for turning traffic.
The road will be widened along the High Street for two lanes to be introduced in both directions at the new traffic lights, while there will also be additional pedestrian crossings.
