CLASSIC cars provided a perfect accompaniment to the great grub at the the Ludlow Spring Food Festival.

People had the chance to view cars from down the decades in glorious sunshine.

This year the Marches Transport Festival alongside the Food Festival in the grounds of Ludlow Castle was supported by the classic car department at the auctioneer Brightwells.

“Now running twelve classic car auctions a year, both in Leominster and Bicester, we have become one of the country’s top auctioneers for enthusiasts to buy and sell classic cars”, says auctioneer and sales manager, Toby Service.

Toby, who lives in Ludlow and has always been a big fan of the festival, was be on hand at the castle entrance for a chat and displayed several cars near the entrance ahead of their sale at auction a few days later.

They were a1963 BMW Isetta 300 - a funky two UK owner bubble car was was expected to fetch up to £16,000.

There was a1973 Ford Escort RS2000 Replica - a car that many visitors to the Festival remember and may have owned that was valued at up to £15,000.

Also on display were two classic Italian sports cars: a

1986 Ferrari 328 GTS - values at between £58,000 and £68,000 and a1975 Ferrari 308 GT4- One of only 547 right hand drive UK cars values at £31,000 - £35,000.

There was a classic from the post war era in the form of a1950 Land Rover Series 1, that is valued at more than £30,000.

Many have been restored are loving cared for by owners who love them not just for their monetary value.

There were a number of examples of the iconic original Mini as well as models from many British and overseas manufacturers.

Some of them are still regularly used on the road and are in excellent condition despite their vintage.

The Marches Transport Festival and Spring Food Festival go together like roast beef and Yorkshire pudding.
