THE next stage in a consultation on the future of midwifery led maternity units like the one in Ludlow has been announced.

It is being led by the Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Groups and will include a series of what are described as community workshops.

The workshop in Ludlow will be at The Rockspring Community Centre on Monday, September 18 at 12.30pm.

It is intended that the event will give people who have used a midwifery-led unit to take part in a discussion and share their experience.

They follow a launch event in Shrewsbury with interested parties, including clinicians and patient organisations, to help identify key themes and ideas, which will then be shared for further discussion at each community workshop.

Local GP and Clinical Director, Women’s and Children for the CCGs Dr Jessica Sokolov said that the views expressed will help with planning the service in the future.

“It is really important that we involve people who use the services in the review,” she said.

“We value their opinions.

“Through their feedback we can learn from their experiences to help inform and shape our local MLU services for the future.

“The details of the events are being finalised at the moment but we wanted to let people know the dates and venues as soon as possible.”
