THE South Shropshire Green Party has selected its parliamentary candidate for the Ludlow constituency to contest next year’s general election

Janet Helen Phillips has lived in Shropshire since 1983 and moved to Lydbury North in 2001.

A former educational psychologist she spent 27 years working in Shropshire on behalf of children with special needs and children in care.

She has a particular interest in the impact of austerity on families, youth justice, and economic strategies to support actions on climate change.

Ms Phillips is a member of CND, the Howard League for Penal Reform, and Amnesty International. She was born and bred in Coventry.

“I am delighted to be selected for this constituency,” said Ms Phillips.

“My motivation for standing in this election is based on a strong desire to improve the quality of life of all those who live in this area and to take local issues to the national level to create a fairer and more equal society where vulnerable people are protected.”
