THE Dorstone Dawdle has received the perfect bit of praise as preparations mount for another big run.
The 10k and 4k fun events have been listed as one of Runner’s World’s "must-do Summer runs".
The run, which this year starts in Dorstone at 11am on July 1, passes the newly-opened Snodhill Castle before ascending the southern slope of Vagar Hill.
As Runner’s World put it: "This 10k has earned itself a solid reputation as a pleasant jaunt through Herefordshire’s Golden Valley, but it’s far from plain sailing.
"Set on quiet country lanes, the race will lull you into a false sense of security with a gentle early section – then the uphills take centre stage.
"But you will be rewarded with glorious views, good support - and a barbecue."
Susannah Garland, one of the organisers, said: "There’s a healthy tradition of vocal support from the locals as the runners ascend 200 metres from Dorstone up through Snodhill’s medieval deer park to Vagar Hill and back down the ancient Cabin Lane to the finish by the Church.
"We’re delighted our event, now in its sixth year, has been recognised by Runner’s World."
