A MOTHER-OF-TWO has launched a new website to provide health and nutritional information for cancer sufferers after research into cancer-fighting foods helped to extend her husband's life.

Fraz Rees, from Chipping Norton, has launched 'Heal and Deal' to share holistic remedies and nutritional information that helped to prolong her husband Anthony's life by 18 months after he was diagnosed with esophageal metastatic cancer in February 2015.

She hopes that the information gathered through her own experiences will help others struggling to deal with treatment side-effects.

"When my husband was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 45, we did not receive a very positive prognosis and the survival rate was low," Mrs Rees commented.

"Naturally, we both broke down by the shattering news, but then came the defiance. We were not going to let it win without putting up a fight."

Following Mr Rees' diagnosis, Mrs Rees turned to the internet and began to research foods and supplements that would boost her husband's immune system and alleviate some of the side-effects of chemotherapy.

Fraz continued: "I was inspired by the self-healing stories of others changing their personal odds and threw myself into researching the healing powers of food and exercise.

"It was a long process as unfortunately, oncologists and doctors couldn't give us much advice, but thankfully, we were able to find the right information and were blessed with almost two more years with Anthony.

"My nature has always been to help where I can, so when we lost Anthony, it made perfect sense to try and help as many people as possible by creating the kind of resource we were looking for when faced with devastating news.

"With a cancer diagnosis, it's so easy to curl up into a ball and take defeat; it feels like you're no longer in control, instead being pushed from appointment to scan to treatment.

"I hope that the information from Heal and Deal will allow those suffering with cancer to take back some of that control and offer enlightenment on complimentary foods and remedies that can be used for some relief and potential healing."

The Heal and Deal website provides a range of recommended recipes as well as a list of foods to avoid and suggested replacements.

Mrs Rees has also tackled a variety of nutritional issues on the website's blog, including the benefits of eating organic produce, how to combat free radicals and avoiding chemically produced additives.
