MEMBERS of the Royal Air Force Association were joined by schools when they held their annual Battle of Britain parade and ceremony at the Waterside Cemetery in Evesham.
There were a host of schools in attendance to commemorate the conflict, which took place between July 10 and October 31 in 1940, during the Second World War, and saw the Royal Air Force defend Britain from large-scale attacks by Nazi Germany's air force, the Luftwaffe.
Held on Friday September 14, the memorial involved Bengeworth CE School, The De Montfort School, St Andrew’s CE, St Egwins CE Middle School, St Mary’s Catholic Primary, and Swan Lane First School.
Also in attendance were Georgina Britten-Long, the deputy Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire; the mayor and mayoress of Evesham, Councillor Mark and Emma Googe; Stuart Carter, town clerk, and others.
Rev Mark Binney led the ceremony, Sue Sollis MBE played the last post and reveille, and the parade was led by Roy Bates, vice chairman of the Evesham branch of the British Legion.
