THOUSANDS of music fans attended a festival across the city this weekend, featuring 200 gigs at 25 venues.

Musicians, poets, spoken word artists and comedians performed at Worcester Music Festival, which raised much-needed funds for Worcestershire Association of Carers.

Helen Mole, festival director, said: “We’ve already received so much positive feedback about this year’s music festival and we’re delighted that so many people came out to enjoy live music and workshops over the weekend.

“We’d like to thank everyone involved with the festival for supporting Worcester’s vibrant live music scene.

“We’ve already got lots of plans for next year so watch this space,” she added.

This year saw the likes of Lower Loveday, Born Zero, White Rhino and Danny Starr performing in everywhere from The Dragon Inn and the Chestnut to Circle of Swords tattoo studio and The Fountains at South Quay.

The metropolitan festival, which supports emerging artists while raising money for good causes, has been held for 11 consecutive years.

A non-profit making event, it is run by an enthusiastic team of volunteers, who work tirelessly to make live music accessible to more people.

The festival also delivered free music-related workshops for the whole community. Adults and children took part in everything from drum clinics and Q&As with industry experts to learning an instrument or singing in a pop choir.

Amateur photographers of any age or experience could also enter the annual photography competition.

Almost £50,000 has been raised for 16 local charities by the festival since it began.
