KEEN gardeners in the area are opening their gardens to the public to stroll around and enjoy for a special charity event.
The first date to save is Sunday, September 23. The garden is at Old Hills, Callow End, Worcester WR2 4TQ
It will be open from 2 -5pm. Admission is £3, with children going free. Homemade teas will be served. This is an informal 1½ acre garden adjacent to common land. Mixed borders contain a wide variety of hardy perennials, including two Plant Heritage National Collections. There is also a pond and kitchen garden.
Another garden that is not to be missed is open September 24 from 11 until 3.30pm. Admission is £4.50 and children are free. The address is Lovells Vineyard, Garrett Bank, Welland, Malvern WR13 6NF. The garden has a long drive with Scotch Pines that leads to 3 acres of garden and small wooded area with mature trees. The garden is mostly lawns with a small fruit orchard, borders and a vegetable plot plus nine acres of established vineyard with red and white grapes. The house (not open) dates to 1700's.
The vineyard produces award-winning white, rose and sparkling wines which are available for sale. Teas or wine tasting will be available.
