THE lead singer of 90s power pop rock band Dodgy will deliver a song writing workshop at Worcester Music Festival.

Redditch's Nigel Clark will lead an introduction to songwriting class, open to all ages and all songwriting abilities, on Saturday, September 15.

The course will offer participants an opportunity to look at lyric writing, melody and rhythm.

Giovanni "Spoz" Esposito, former Birmingham poet laureate, will also be offering a fun and interactive Poetry Out Loud workshop which aims to get young people reading, writing and appreciating any form of poetry on Sunday, September 16.

Spoz is an award winning performance poet, singer/songwriter, filmmaker, playwright and was the poet-in-residence at Birmingham City FC.

Expect music-themed arts and crafts activities, such as, music festival flags masks, music themed puppets, musical instruments and badges.

Festival director Helen Mole said: "We’ve worked hard to put together a programme of free activities for this this year’s festival.

"We are keen to encourage the next generation of musicians but also want to make sure that the festival is very much an event for the whole family.

"The activities will help festival attendees to develop their existing musical skills and discover new ones."

Worcester Music Festival returns from September 14 to 16.
