A WEST Midlands Police constable is due to face magistrates tomorrow after being charged with three offences following an incident in Halesowen.
Pc Kevin McClenaghan is accused of two assaults and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The charges are in connection with an incident which happened following the arrest of two women after a disturbance near the bus station in the town on December 22 2017.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct began an investigation after a referral from West Midlands Police in January.
The Crown Prosecution Service authorised two charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Pc McClenaghan.
He faces a further charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice, which relates to the completion of a witness statement arising from the same incident.
Pc McClenaghan will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Thursday July 19.
