GEORGE is a lovely 16-month-old white and tan staffie cross in the care of RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch through no fault of his own.

He is looking for a quiet home where he will get lots of love and understanding.

Geraldine Haynes, branch trustee, said: "George is sweet natured, friendly and affectionate. Being a youngster, he has lots of energy and would benefit from training classes. He loves company and long walks."

George is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. If you feel you could offer George his forever home, ring Geraldine on 01886 822083.

Visit the branch website for more rescued animals seeking adoption at rspca-worcester.org or call Geraldine for dogs on the number above or The Holdings Rescue Centre on 07484 905707 for cats and rabbits.

The centre in Holdings Lane, Broomhall, Kempsey, Worcester WR5 3FP is open for visitors to meet the cats and rabbits between 11am and 4pm every day except Wednesdays. Dogs are still boarded at private boarding kennels.

Everyone is invited to the branch's Novelty Dog Show at The Holdings this Sunday (July 15) from 10.30am until 4pm.

There will be 12 fun classes to enter, all judged by Malvern vet Richard Chamings. Judging starts at 11am and prizes are awarded up to fourth place in each class.

Covered rest areas for the dogs will be available if the hot weather continues. There will be plenty of stalls, refreshments and a barbecue, while antiques expert Henry Sandon will be there to value visitors' pottery and porcelain for £2 per item.

Mrs Haynes said: "Please support your local branch of the RSPCA, which helps many unwanted, abused and neglected animals from Worcestershire.

"You can come to the dog show and still see the World Cup football final as the dog show clashes will finish before 4pm, so you can get home in time."
