PARENTS can now have their say on the design of a play area due to be built in a town.

Upton Town Council has unveiled two proposals for the new playground in New Street, which were submitted by competing firms Kompan and Proludi.

Both of the schemes have a £200,000 price tag and the council is now inviting locals to vote - via email or in person - on which plan to push ahead with.

Cllr Henrietta Ross, a member of the council's task and finish group for the playground, said: "It's a really important step in the project to find out what people using the park and families think about it.

"I want people to come along and have a look and make their minds up. We have got graphics and a four minute video from each company.

"We need people to come along and vote."

The Kompan design includes 'The Upton Ship', which features slides, a pendulum swing, a net twister, a trampoline and more.

Whereas the Proludic proposal comprises two trampolines, a variety of swings, a spinning wheel and other pieces of equipment.

The designs will be exhibited in Upton's Memorial Hall on Saturday, from 1pm to 4.30pm, and in Upton Library between Wednesday, March 28, and Saturday, April 14.

Residents will be able to fill out a voting form at either of these sites.

Alternatively, people can email clerk@uptonuponsevern-tc.org.uk to vote for their favourite design, although they must include their name and address in the message.

The project will be funded by contributions from developers, known as Section 106 funds.
