RENAULT has revealed the closure date for its dealership in the city.

Hylton Renault Worcester, in Bromyard Road, Worcester, will close on Friday, March 23.

City councillor Richard Udall previously raised concerns about how the closure would affect staff and how customers would get their vehicles serviced and repaired.

Employees at the dealership, which is owned by Hylton Group, were reportedly told they were being made redundant around two weeks ago.

Hylton Group is also closing its Renault and Dacia showrooms in Cheltenham, although the fate of its Peugeot and Suzuki dealerships in St Peter's, Worcester, remains unclear.

A spokesman for Renault UK said: "The franchise owners of Hylton Renault Worcester have decided to close the business on the March 23.

"Renault UK is committed to providing sales and servicing facilities in the area and there are four Renault dealerships in the region.

"The nearest to Worcester is in Stourbridge. Renault UK is actively seeking a new dealer partner in the Worcester area.”

Hylton Group was unavailable for comment.
