A MAN who carried out a string of burglaries across Bromsgrove and Redditch has been jailed for six years and eight months.

Eamon O'Reilly, 20, was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court on Friday, March 16, for burglaries, car thefts, and driving offences across Worcestershire and the West Midlands.

On January 24 this year, O'Reilly burgled a house in Northfield, Birmingham, during which a handbag was stolen which included cash and bank cards.

A week later on January 31, he burgled a house on The Meadway, Redditch, and stole the spare keys for a Mercedes C220 and an Audi A4. He then stole both vehicles from the driveway.

He then broke into a property on Green Park Road, Bromsgrove, on the same date and took the spare keys to a Toyota Yaris and a BMW 420D, which he then stole. The BMW was recovered in the West Midlands on the following day and the Yaris was later recovered on February 5.

On February 10, O'Reilly broke into a property on Amelas Close, Stourbridge, and stole a Vauxhall Mokka and a Ford Focus, as well as two mobile phones and a wallet containing bank cards and cash. At around 3.30pm on the same day, the Vauxhall Mokka was seen on Silver Street in Kings Heath and O'Reilly was arrested for this offence. The Ford Focus was later recovered in the West Midlands on February 11.

On February 12, O'Reilly, of Pershore Road, Stirchley, Birmingham, was also arrested for the Redditch, Bromsgrove and Northfield burglary and vehicle offences.

O'Reilly pleaded guilty to all of the offences, as well as two counts of driving whilst disqualified.

At Friday's sentencing, he was given a six year and eight month custodial sentence, an extended driving disqualification period of 40 months and ordered to pay a victim surcharge.

A police spokesman said: "I hope this result demonstrates that we take domestic burglaries and the associated offences very seriously and we will always work to bring those responsible before the courts."
