TWO Kidderminster teenagers have gone grey in a hair-raising challenge – collecting more than £800 for research into prostate cancer.

Baxter College A-level students Lewis Cunnington and Sam Beadsworth smashed their original £300 target thanks to support from friends, school pals, teachers and family.

The pair had their hair dyed silver grey at Vibe, in Oxford Street, free of charge by stylists Sharon Lavelle and Leigh McEvoy, yesterday (Monday).

Lewis, aged 17, said: “One man dies every 45 minutes from prostate cancer and we wanted to help Cancer Research UK find treatments and cures to conquer this disease and improve survival rates.”

Eighteen-year-old Sam added: “We decided to go grey to highlight prostate cancer and can hardly believe the massive support we’ve received. We want to thank everyone who donated and especially our school for their backing and to Vibe for contributing to the cause by not charging us for the hair dyeing.”

There is still time to add to their £820 total by donating to Cancer Research UK at https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/sam-and-lewis-dye-their-hair.
