HALESOWEN College was celebrating the success of its students who are out on work placement during the recent National Apprenticeship Week.

Apprentices from the college have been working at regional building society The West Brom during this year, where they have been learning new skills and getting on-the-job training and experience.

The seven students are all based at The West Brom’s head office where they work four days a week, with one day spent at college.

Jemma Perks, from Halesowen College’s apprenticeship team, said: “Our partnership with The West Brom has meant that seven young people are getting valuable job experience which will benefit their future careers.

“They have settled in really well and are making great progress.”

Students Tayisha Brown, Aminah Mubasher, Zoe Doyle, Jamie Travis, Oliver Street and Samuel Lowe are currently completing business administration apprenticeships at the college, while Callum Quinn is completing his in accountancy.

Helen Vernon, The West Brom’s recruitment advisor, added: “As a major employer in the region, we want to offer young people a positive experience of working life which will hopefully act as a springboard for them into a longer term career.

“It benefits the individuals, but also us as the employer as well.”
