A DRUG dealer who was caught with a stash of heroin and cocaine after losing control of a stolen car and ploughing into two parked cars has been jailed for three years.

Afghan born Wakil Safi, who entered the UK illegally after spending time in ‘The Jungle’ in Calais, wrote off the one parked vehicle and caused over £2,000 damage to the second, said Andrew Baker prosecuting.

He said Safi, of Roden Road, Oldbury, managed to escape from the grasp of the one car owner but he was quickly recaptured after trying to hide behind garages in the Black Country.

Mr Baker told Wolverhampton Crown Court that police officers then spotted Safi trying to conceal 78 wraps containing heroin and cocaine which were valued at £780.

Safi had made his way to Italy before travelling on to Calais and he had no rights whatsoever to be in the United Kingdom, added Mr Baker.

Christopher O'Gorman, defending, said Safi was himself addicted to the two Class A drugs and a blood test taken after the accident in the Willenhall area revealed he was "high" when he crashed the stolen Skoda.

“He was not the main dealer but his life had hit the buffers because of his drug habit,” said Mr O'Gorman, who told the court Safi began selling the drugs for food and to fuel his own addiction.

Safi admitted possessing the two drugs with intent to supply and he was told by Judge Simon Ward: “You know very well how much harm Class A drugs do to people which is why the courts deal harshly with dealers.”

The court was told Safi now faces being deported back to his home country once he has completed his time in prison.
