DOGS Trust Evesham is offering a behind the scenes tour and inviting people along for a sneak peek of what goes on at its rehoming centre.

The rehoming centre in Wickhamford underwent a two year rebuild which was officially completed a year ago.

It’s one of the largest Dogs Trust rehoming centres - caring for up for 120 dogs at any one time and rehoming around 900 dogs per year.

Fifty members of staff keep the centre running which includes canine carers, training and behaviour advisors and vets, as well as a dedicated army of 100 volunteers.

Tracey Spiers, Dogs Trust Evesham assistant manager said: “We’re extremely proud of our facilities and thought what better way to show them off than to open our doors for an exclusive behind the scenes tour to really show people the level of care that goes into looking after our dogs.

“As well as getting to see some of our furry residents chilling out in their kennels, it’s a great opportunity to come and see areas that are not usually on view to the public but are so important for the dogs welfare and help to make their stay with us as comfortable and enjoyable as possible whilst they await their forever homes.”

Taking place on Thursday April 12 from 6pm, guests will be able to see the centres facilities including the modern glass-fronted kennels, exercise paddocks and specialist training and behaviour facilities as well as areas not usually open to the public including puppy kennels and the veterinary suite. There will also be the chance to meet staff at the rehoming centre.

It will involve walking for approximately 90 minutes around the site, so call in advance to discuss any mobility concerns.

There is no charge but donations are accepted.

Places are limited so register in advance by calling the rehoming centre on 01386 835 840 or emailing tracey.spiers@dogstrust.org.uk.
