A OLDBURY man who carried out a string of serious sex attacks on two schoolgirls going back to 1976 has been locked up for 12 years.

Judge Michael Challinor told Andrew Lancaster-Madeley, aged 55, it was clear he had groomed his victims before setting off on what he described as a "catalogue of sex offences."

He said the offending by Lancaster-Madeley had badly affected his victims adding: "You preyed on their innocence and naivety and both girls were considerably damaged."

The judge said the one victim's life had been ruined, she had lived with the burden of his offending for over 30 years and she may never recover.

He said: "You groomed both girls by telling them you were playing games with them."

But he ruled that Lancaster-Madeley had fully acknowledged the seriousness of his crimes and he was fully aware of the impact of his offending.

"You have never sought to challenge the honesty and the integrity of your victims," he added at Wolverhampton Crown Court. "You must feel very ashamed and I know you are fully remorseful for what you have done."

Lancaster-Madeley admitted 12 charges involving rape and indecent assault, carried out when he was living in the Oldbury area between 1976 and 1986.

He was further made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Protection Order by the judge and told he must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The judge told Lancaster-Madeley who has been living in Telford Close, Solihull, his licence on release from custody would also be extended by two years.
