A LORRY fire has closed the M5 in both directions in Bromsgrove.
The lorry overturned on the M5 northbound under junction 4 and caught fire at around 3.25pm.
The motorway is now closed in both directions between J4a M42 and J4 Bromsgrove with delays of over an hour.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said the driver of the lorry suffered 'relatively minor injuries' and was taken to hospital.
The driver was pulled from his cab by a passer-by who was treated at the scene for the effects of breathing in smoke and was also taken to hospital.
The southern arm of the motorway island remains blocked with emergency vehicles.
Traffic is being diverted off at the junction 4 exit slip road and back on at the entry slip road.
Firefighters have been using the motorway bridge to tackle the fire from above.
The lorry looks to have been extinguished but the motorway remains closed.
Please avoid J4 of the M5. The motorway will be closed for the foreseeable future. Ta pic.twitter.com/4G8kFtosYJ
