A MAN who drove two miles in the wrong direction on the A449 will be sentenced at Worcester Crown Court.

Scott Fewtrell, 25, admitted driving dangerously after magistrates heard he was involved in a 30 minute car chase with police.

Cars were forced to swerve out of his way, as he drove on the wrong side of the road, with one driver catching him on dash cam footage.

The car chase ensued after he filled his car with £45 of petrol in Broomhall, but police twice had to call off the chase, believing it too dangerous to follow Fewtrell.

He eventually drove down Ombersley Road and abandoned the car, and was found by police in a nearby shed.

Worcester Magistrates Court heard the Fiat Punto car was used by a number of different people, and had been involved in other crimes for which Fewtrell, of Chedworth Drive, was not responsible.

PC Lacey, one of the police officers following Fewtrell, said it was the most dangerous driving he had seen since he started working for the force in 2005.

The offence was committed on Tuesday October 24.

He was also charged with driving dangerously, using a car without insurance, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with his licence and making off without payment.

He will appear in Worcester Crown Court for sentencing on Friday December 8 and he was given unconditional bail.
