POLICE investigated a report that a severed human arm had been spotted at the side of the road- but it turned out to be a Halloween prop.

A driver called to report seeing a severed arm by the Ketch Roundabout on the A4440 road in Worcester, only for it to turn out to be a harmless Halloween prank.

The call was at around 11.50am on Friday and West Mercia Police said that it had the potential to cause a crash.

PC Allan Figueiredo of Gorse Hill and Rainbow Hill safer neighbourhood team said: "Police received a call from a concerned motorist who had been driving along the Broomhall Road when they noticed what looked like a severed arm on the side of the road.

"The motorist drove past the location to check again.

"Officers attended the location and found that it was not a human severed arm but a Halloween prop.

"We cannot establish if the item had been left there deliberately or not however there was potential for a collision to occur as drivers slow down to investigate what the item actually was.

"The attending officers have seized the prop."

West Mercia Police tweeted: "Received 999 call from a motorist reporting a human arm on the side of the road. Officers investigated, it’s just a ‘armless Halloween prop."
