TRIBUTES have been paid to a "lovely gentleman" who died after being hit by a car.

Stephen Priddey, aged 66, suffered serious head, pelvic and leg injuries after being hit by a grey Audi A3 in Martley.

He died later at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Mr Priddey was a former pupil at The King's School in Worcester.

He was a former partner of chartered accountancy firm Harrison Priddey in Bromsgrove.

His mother in law, Karen McVey said: "He was a lovely gentleman, he was known by a lot of people and very well liked.

"It is a horrible shock for all of us, he has a little girl who is 12 years old.

"Stephen is a big loss to everyone who knew him.

"He was just going into the shop when he was hit by a car, it must've been horrible.

"He was very sporty and in good shape for his age, he played cricket, rugby and hockey and had done a five mile run just days before he was hit.

"We were told on Sunday, around mid-morning he had been hit by a car and been taken to hospital by air ambulance.

"He died about nine hours later."

Bromsgrove Hockey and Cricket Club also paid tribute to Mr Priddey, who was previously of Bromsgrove, on their Facebook account.

It said: "It is with great regret that we have to announce the death of Steve Priddey. Steve was killed in a traffic accident this weekend.

"Steve was a stalwart of the club, both cricket and hockey sections, for many seasons and had been a trustee for a long time.

"Our sincere condolences to all of Steve's family."

West Midlands Ambulance Service said officers went to Central Stores at the junction of the B4207 and B4197 on Sunday at around 9.17am.

West Mercia Police said the incident happened on the forecourt adjacent to the B4197 at the junction with the B4204.

Anyone with information, contact police on 101 quoting incident number 265s of September 17.
